Political Involvement and Business Advocacy
Advocating and strengthening the business role in the political and legislative scene
The Chamber lobbies for legislation that benefits business and community development in the Peoria area. During the past year, The Chamber has taken a stand on numerous issues at the local, state and federal levels. The Chamber has educated its membership on scores of policies taking effect, along with organizing a task force for the retention of the local Air National Guard base. The Progressive Peoria Political Action Committee, a subsidiary of The Chamber, supports business friendly candidates at the local and state level who support a healthy economy, favorable business climate, high quality of life and progressive future for our communities.

Providing high visibility for the business community in the Central Illinois region and beyond
Businesses of all sizes benefit from The Chamber’s promotion vehicles. This year over 1,000 area businesses promoted their products and services or launched their business utilizing the services provided by The Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, many of them at no additional fee. The Area Business Connection business to business trade show is the largest show of its kind in downstate Illinois. This trade show provides area businesses the opportunity to truly showcase their products and services to a professional audience.

Improving the readiness of tomorrow’s workforce
District 150 and The Chamber have strong partnerships through the high school career academies and Adopt-A-School program, enhancing thousands of students’ educational experiences. 2004 marks the twentieth year of this partnership, which reaches 15,000 students annually.

Networking Opportunities
Opening doors for synergistic business relationships
In the past year, The Chamber hosted over 50 events that provided nearly 9,000 opportunities for area business professionals to make new connections and build valuable business relationships. 185 regional companies joined The Chamber in this past year and the Chamber Ambassadors were there to welcome them. Chamber members are among the first to learn about new prospects and new business opportunities.
