Political Involvement & Business Advocacy
Business Issue Advocacy – Whether it is transportation issues, City codes or regulations, education reform or other issues important to the business community, the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce will work to represent our members before elected bodies to be sure that the business climate is one that attracts and retains development in our communities. Business friendly regulations and business-welcoming attitudes by both elected officials and government employees will strengthen the environment for member companies. The Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce can bring together a collective voice for business that is difficult for any one business to do alone.
Heart of Illinois Legislative Reception- This annual event, sponsored by the area chambers, offers the opportunity to improve the lines of communication between the business community and our state elected officials. This reception will give you the opportunity to speak directly to area representatives on issues that are important to you.
Legislative Briefing – This annual event features representatives from Illinois State Chamber of Commerce and the US Chamber of Commerce who will speak in detail about the critical business issues expected to unfold in the upcoming legislative session.
Progressive Peoria Political Action Committee (PAC) – The PAC is a subsidiary of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce whose goal is to support and elect candidates at the local and state level who support a healthy economy, favorable business climate, high quality of life and progressive future for our communities. Business friendly candidates will receive financial support from the PAC to assist with their campaigns.
State of the City Address – Peoria Mayor, Jim Ardis, presents his view on the state of the city of Peoria to his business oriented audience. This is a ‘must attend’ event for the Peoria area business professional.
Washington Fly-In- Congressman Ray LaHood and his staff help organize this annual trip by arranging an outstanding group of speakers such as congressional representatives, senators, media representatives and administration officials. You will be briefed on issues making news today.
